“Night, God bless” 


On Monday we said goodnight to our Nannie. A devoted Mum, Sister, Grandparent and great grandparent. She had 4 children, 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren and counting. Her life was her family. She lost my grandad when he was 49 and ran a nursery and raised 4 children by herself. She moved to the most perfect cottage in Egton Bridge, North Yorkshire where we spent almost every holiday I can remember growing up. I wrote her a letter to say our goodbyes about our time spent there and how it shaped us all to this day. 


“So many magical memories with you that set fire to our imaginations and memories for a lifetime. Every day we were with you, you woke up to share the adventure of your countryside cottage life that will live on in our hearts and minds forever.”


In her final years she fought her final fight in the form of Alzheimer’s but never lost her smile, her childlike play and love for her children be that her own, their children and my own. 


You put a fire in my belly, the knowing of the importance of family and the strength to be able to be in my own company as well. Thank you x
